Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
Scoop out small portions (about 1 tablespoon each) of the dough and roll them into balls.
Place the cookie balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Press down gently on each ball to flatten slightly.
Sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top of each cookie for a festive touch.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
